Vidya Balan

Vidya Balan

This one's making headway -- despite what you might have to say about her clothes.
India was smitten with her eyes in Parineeta and since then, while she has largely featured only in films requiring the men to do the talking (and the emoting and the drama and the funny bits), the cash register's been ringing up winners pretty consistently.
So this year saw her in Guru, Heyy Babyy and Bhool Bhullaiyya, films which made oodles of money, the second two purely because of the infallible Akshay Kumar. Her other release, Eklavya, was -- despite controversy -- declared India's official entry to the Oscars. Vidya also had Salaam-E-Ishq, but few people would want to remember that.
Coming just a year after she had Lage Raho Munna Bhai, this chick's found the bigtime, double quick.
