Heiress to filmdom's biggest legacy, Kareena's tragic flaw lay in being too sexy.
Glamour came naturally to Bebo, and she luxuriated in it, the majority of her film roles being insubstantial, well-dressed fluff. Sure, there were hits, but at no point was she taken seriously as an actress -- despite the occasional Chameli or Asoka, she remained inevitably Poo.
Then came Omkara in 2006, where she managed a lovely, nuanced performance -- only to be outdone by actors with meatier roles, like Saif and Deepak Dobriyal and the irrepressible Konkona Sensharma.
The breakout came now with the year's most refreshing mainstream release, Jab We Met. Kareena had the film all to herself, and she went out on a limb as the chatty, irresistible Geet. It's a bravura performance, and Kareena rocked audiences and reviews.
Buzz is she's hiking rates, reportedly saying she deserves more than her male co-stars. We can't help but agree.
